From coverage to payment, here are answers to the questions I hear most often.

Cost

Individual Counseling

  • $155 per 50 min session

  • Sliding Scale available

Consulting, Training, & Supervision

  • Costs vary depending on the scope and needs of yourself and/or your organization. I’d be happy to discuss options and create a plan that fits your goals! Please reach out to start the conversation.

Sliding Scale Policy

  • I understand how difficult it can be to find affirming and culturally responsive therapy, especially for youth. To help make services more accessible, I offer a limited number of sliding scale openings. If cost is a barrier, I encourage you to reach out through my contact form to explore options.

Using Benefits?

Extended benefits

  • Every health benefits plan is different, but most include counselling with a Registered Social Worker. Please check with your provider directly, using my registration information listed below, to confirm your coverage.

Using FNHA or NIHB?

  • FNHA benefits require a pre-authorization form, which I will complete prior to our first session using the information you provide during our consultation. A status number is required for this process.  If additional information is ever needed, I will let you know.

  • NIHB coverage may require prior approval depending on your province. We’ll go over this during your consultation, and I’ll complete the process before your first session.

Using Métis mental health benefits?

  • If you are using benefits through the Métis Nation, please contact them first to obtain the required approval and forms. Once that’s completed, I can bill sessions directly to them.

Tax Information

  • Registered Social Workers are recognized as medical practitioners under the Income Tax Act. This means that any amount not covered by your benefits provider can be claimed on your income tax returns.

Billing

Using extended benefits?

  • Payments are made through JaneApp by e-transfer or saved credit card. Receipts are provided and can be used for reimbursement through your benefits provider.

Using FNHA or NIHB?

  • FNHA I will bill all sessions directly and renew benefits as needed.

  • NIHB I will bill directly or you can submit directly to them for reimbursement

Using Métis mental health benefits?

  • I will bill sessions directly to them using the authorization information they provided.

Cancellation policy

  • I understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
